NIVEA IN-SHOWER BODY MOISTURISER: Fail or sale?

I love classic brands like #NIVEA.  Uncomplicated simple formulas at a fair price that deserve their share of the shelf.  So when NIVEA advertised their in-shower body moisturiser, I was interested.  The proposition was good: moisturises instantly to get dressed and go, the bottle told me.  Great.  No more drying off and then smothering on body lotion, then waiting for it to absorb. But (as they say on The Great British Menu), this was not the reality.  What you have to do is rub the stuff on, then wash it off, creating one more step than normal moisturising.  What a bore! Plus, the so called moisturising component was not remarkable.  However, the truly dire aspect of this product launch was the packaging.  OK, NIVEA blue is a smart way to attract devotees of the NIVEA brand as it provides shelf shout but this is a product designed to be used in the shower.  It lacked a handy hook, which a lot of shower gels provide, so you need to stand it up.  Unfortunately, the packaging designers who clearly did not understand the concept of form follows function have created a curved base.   You have to prop it on it’s nozzle instead.  The design was clearly intended, as the print was the right way up when the bottle was inverted – although of course, it makes it quite hard to open the bottle with wet hands. An in-shower moisturiser is a great idea.  This just happens not to be it.  Back to the drawing board NIVEA!
